When run button is pressed, a logic zero is input at RD1, and an incrementing binary count is seen at the LEDs, LSB = RB0.

 

When released, (RD1=1) the count stops and is retained.

 

When the RESET button (RD0) is pressed, the count displayed is reset to zero.

 

The MCU clock speed can be adjusted at RV1, around 40kHz.
